Dr. Aldrich Killian is a character that appears in the Marvel Comics. He is a scientist who was not evil and only tried to develop Extremis so that there would be another Super Soldier (like Captain America/Steve Rogers).

History

Aldrich Killian was a scientist at FuturePharm in Austin, Texas. Working alongside Dr. Maya Hansen, the two of them instrumental in the creation of the Extremis virus. However, the Department of Defense was not impressed with the results and was threatening to cut their funding. In a desperate attempt to keep their contract, Killian and Hansen devised a plan: they would steal a sample of Extremis and sell it to a terrorist. They would then request the aid of Iron Man, as Dr. Hansen was an old friend of Tony Stark. Seeing a super-powered terrorist beat up someone as powerful as Iron Man would scare the DOD into renewing their contract. The two carried out this plan, stealing a sample and selling it to a domestic terrorist named Mallen. But neither of them had covered their tracks as well as they thought. Security was starting to close in on Killian, and he knew that if he was captured and interrogated, he would break. He printed a letter of confession, claiming he acted alone to avoid implicating Hansen, then committed suicide with a pistol in his desk drawer.
