Galactus is a character appearing in Marvel Comics. He is one of the most powerful beings in existence.
Origins[]
Galactus was born Galan of Taa in the Sixth Cosmos, the previous universe that existed before the Big Bang. His homeworld of Taa was a wondrous paradise, and Galan became a renowned scientist. However, his work eventually led him to a horrifying revelation: The Universe was in its final stages - where it had been expanding, it was now slowly collapsing in on itself. Eventually it would coalesce into a "Cosmic Egg" - a sphere of disorganized, compact primordial matter. Scoffed by his peers, Galan became a space explorer, hoping to find some means to save his people. He found none. As the universe began to collapse in on itself, numerous civilizations had already perished, and it became apparent that Taa would be the last one to fall. Rather than die a slow painful death via entropy and radiation, Galan and many of his fellow Taans chose to fly a worldship directly into the heart of the Cosmic Egg. However, Galan did not die. Instead he was altered by cosmic energy. The sentient core of the Universe told him that the Cosmic Egg would soon explode in an event known as the Big Bang, giving birth to the Seventh Cosmos. He alone would live to see this transformation. After the Big Bang, Galan was reborn as Galactus, one of the first three beings to come into existence in the Seventh Cosmos - the other two were Eternity and Death. It would be the role of Galactus to serve as the balancing force of these two opposites. This section is under development. Information will be placed here soon.
Powers and Abilities[]
Imbued with the Power Cosmic, Galactus is essentially omnipotent. He is capable of altering reality as he sees fit, and is also capable of shapeshifting, telepathy, and energy absorbtion. Few beings in existence are capable of even hurting him, and though he has occasionally been killed, his deaths have never been permanent - he will live until the end of the Seventh Cosmos. The most feared weapon in his arsenal is the Ultimate Nullifier, which is capable of destroying entire planes of existence. Of note, Korvac killed himself rather than be killed by the Ultimate Nullifier, and Doctor Doom once used it to destroy an undefined alternate reality.
