HYDRA was a terrorist organization led by the Red Skull during the World War II, and later succeeded by his second in command, scientist and researcher, Arnim Zola. HYDRA was responsible for destruction of SHIELD, whom after being defeated after World War II, secretly joined SHIELD and compromised their security. Operating within their Ranks until the 21st century.
HYDRA wasresponsible for the death of many famous icons, such as Howard and Maria Stark, as well as Nick Fury, before the latter actually survived the assasination attempt.
