Overlord is a Marvel Comics supervillain created by John Byrne and John Romita, Jr. He is the main villain of the Armor Wars II storyline.
History[]
Kearson DeWitt was the son of a brilliant inventor who was described as being decades ahead of his time. The elder DeWitt was ridiculed by the scientific and technology communities and died penniless and heartbroken, leaving behind designs of unrealized potential. When Iron Man made his debut on the national stage, DeWitt saw similarities between the armor and some of his father's designs. Convinced that Tony Stark had plagiarized his late father's designs, DeWitt became obsessed with revenge.
DeWitt obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and managed to get a job at the Marrs Corporation, but he was unable to let go of his obsession for vengeance, and so he waited for the right time to strike. The time arrived when Stark was shot by Kathy Dare, a mentally unstable admirer. DeWitt came up with an insidious idea to have a techno-organic "neural parasite" implanted in Stark during surgery, which would grant DeWitt control of Stark's movements. He convinced his boss, Desmond Marrs, to fund this endeavor by convincing him of the nearly limitless opportunities for industrial espionage. Though the parasite controlled Stark's central nervous system, it did not enable DeWitt's monitors to see out of Stark's eyes, so DeWitt bribed a Stark Enterprises security guard to grant him access to the building's security monitors.
Initially not knowing that Tony Stark and Iron Man were one and the same, DeWitt was pleasantly surprised when he gained control of the Armored Avenger. During a battle with the Living Laser, the Armored Avenger found himself immobile and at the villain's mercy. However, the Laser sensed that something was wrong with Iron Man, and opted to postpone their battle to an occasion when the Armored Avenger could face him on equal terms.
Stark eventually crafted a new suit of Iron Man armor which nullified the parasite's control over his body while he was wearing it. Enraged at the loss of control, DeWitt donned his own suit of armor, the Overlord Armor, to take the fight to Iron Man personally. A fierce aerial duel between the Armored Combatants ensued, until both of their flight systems were damaged, resulting in the duel resuming on the ground. With the help of James Rhodes, Iron Man overpowered the Overlord, who seemingly perished when a building fell on him.
Though DeWitt appeared to perish, he actually survived, though his injuries left him confined to a wheelchair. Joining forces with Advanced Idea Mechanics, DeWitt created a new version of the Overlord armor that he was able to control remotely via a neural link. He attracts the attention of Iron Man and the Avengers when A.I.M. begins selling armor designs to terrorists. When Iron Man attacks the A.I.M. base of operations, Overlord attacks him again. During the fight, Iron Man manages to critically damage the Overlord armor with a plasma cannon. The overload of neural feedback caused the base to explode, killing DeWitt in the process.

The Overlord armor weighed 1050 lbs (43.27 kg) and stood at a height of 7 feet and 5 inches. It was capable of flight via jets in the feet, and was outfitted with laser cannons and energy gauntlets.
