The Secret Origin of Tony Stark, is a special comic issue, as well as the 5th Volume in the Iron Man Comics series, published by Marvel Comics featuring the character Tony Stark / Iron Man in his quest to learn about his secret past.

Plot

Recorder 451, a rogue Rigellian Recorder finds Tony Stark and helps him escape from the captivity of the Voldi, which are slaughtered by the celestials when 451 steals the Heart of the Voldi, and because of this, Stark ensures that he will pay for his crimes.

Following the event, 451 reveals to Stark that he had met his father, Howard Stark and his mother Maria Stark, a time before he was born, slowly telling him about his pre-birth history. In a flashback, 451 reveals to have teamed up with Howard to help Maria give birth to Tony, but with the presence of the alien forces known as the Greys in the planet, Tony's birth could not be done until Howard and his family were left peacefully, somethihg which could not ensue if the Greys remained on the planet.

As a solution to the problem, Howard re-assembles his team known as the Stark Seven, which was the same team he used to find 451. Together, they head to the base where the boss of the Grey thugs were and trashed the place, leaving only a few survivors left. These survivors were able to escape, with Howard unable to do anything, 451 secretly planned to destroy them by messing up the systems on their ship, unabling them to return to their superiors and dying out in space.

After this, Howard returns to the Stark Compound and thanks 451, then he leaves saying "If this succeeds, I doubt we will ever cross paths again." When 451 leaves, Howard returns to Maria and Tony is born.

Back in the present, 451 has just finished telling Tony about his secret past. 451 then tells Tony the reason why he needed Stark in the first place. For him to be a pilot of a nuclear deterrent of 25,000 foot tall suit called the Godkiller Armor.
